    Bernadette J. Brooten is the author of Women Leaders in the Ancient Synagogue and Love Between Women: Early Christian Responses to Female Homoeroticism and the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship.  Professor Brooten directs the Feminist Sexual Ethics Project under a Ford Foundation grant.  She is currently writing a book on early Christian women who were enslaved or slave-holding and editing a volume focused on the intersection of slavery, religion, women, and sexuality.
