Fall 2007 Graduate Proseminar Series
The Women’s and Gender Studies Graduate Proseminar is a one-semester, non-credit series of meetings and discussions ordinarily taken by Joint M.A. students during their first year in the program. Students beyond the first year are also welcome to attend. The primary aims of the proseminar series are to foster an intellectual and social community among the WGS graduate students, and to introduce graduate students to WGS faculty members and their work. Faculty members attending the proseminars will discuss how their work and disciplines grapple with issues surrounding the study of women, gender and/or sexuality. Short reading materials may be recommended and distributed before some of the sessions. There are no required writing assignments. The series will be facilitated by James Mandrell, Chair of Women’s and Gender Studies and Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies, Comparative Literature, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Film Studies.
Feel free to bring a bag lunch; some refreshments will also be provided.
