Being one of first recipents of the Wien scholarship in 1958, I had the honor of addressing Lawrence Wien and his family at the 30-year celebration in 1988 in the name of all WISP students. At that time it impressed me deeply to learn that President Abram Sacher, in 1957, had fought ardently to admit me, a German (!) non-Jew (!), to Brandeis -- only a few years after the Nazi Holocaust. The Brandeis experience and the ideals of its founders, among them Lawrence Wien, have profoundly changed my life. At the end of my professional career, much of which I attribute to my education there, I am finally in a position to return a privilege that I have received through the open hearts of others. I am happy to give to the Wien Scholarship Program a year's worth of tuition and board for another student in need. Thank you, Wien family, for paving the way!
