Overview
At Brandeis, Writing Intensive (WI) courses meet certain criteria:
- Require a significant amount of writing: 18-20 pages, 4,500-5,000 words.
- Allow for revision based on instructor feedback.
- Use writing for teaching as well as for evaluation.
- Instruct students on how to carry out the writing assignments.
- Include writing quality as a significant factor in the course grade.
