Ellen Stone Belic
Ellen Stone Belic is a private practice psychotherapist in Chicago and has been a member of the Columbia College Chicago adjunct faculty since 1982 where she taught psychology and humanities. Ellen has a long standing interest in women and the arts. She conducted a study for the Institute for Clinical Social Work on mother’s experience of their daughter’s adolescence. She is a co-founder of Gender Matters, a co-operative group at Francis Parker School involving parents, teachers and administrators looking at issues of gender in education. Presently, she serves: as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at Columbia College Chicago; on the Board of In These Times, a Chicago based progressive political magazine; and, as director of the Jerome H. Stone Family Foundation. She is also the founder of the Institute for the Study of Women and Gender at Columbia College. She is currently working on a memoir about the loss of her husband at sea. Ellen is also mom to two daughters, Dara and Maia.
