LeClair Receives National Recognition

Cappella Clausura, directed by Visiting Scholar Amelia LeClair, has released their first professionally produced recording of the 18 madrigals written by a 14 year old girl in Renaissance Italy.  Vittoria Aleotti was preternaturally musical and daughter of Giovanni Battista Aleotti, architect to the court of Alfonso II of Ferrara.  When she was about 14 her father gave her some poetry to set to music.  The result is nothing short of astonishing.

Recorded in September of 2013, these madrigals are vibrant, deeply moving and passionate.

For this work Amelia LeClair has been nationally recognized through a profile in Early Music America, the nation's gold standard of journals in the field.
