Apply
There are three scholar affiliations for which you can apply: Visiting Scholar, Visiting Research Associate and Dissertation Scholar.
Application materials for all application types include:
- Application form
- Three letters of recommendation (submitted through our website). All referees must be professionals from the field in which you are applying and only one referee may be a WSRC Scholar.
- Curriculum Vitae
- Representative sample of the candidate's work
- Statement of proposed goals for the next year, including work on a project that focuses on women's lives or gender issues.
- $25 non-refundable application fee, payable to the Women's Studies Research Center
All applications are reviewed and evaluated by the admissions committee, which includes scholars and Brandeis faculty members, and are presented to the director for discussion and final approval.
Visiting Scholars
Visiting scholars are affiliated with the program for two years. They must "renew" themselves at the end of the first year. At the end of the second year, they are eligible to apply for resident scholar status, which allows affiliation with the program for as long as they choose, so long as they are engaged in research on women and/or gender.
Application deadline: Feb. 1.
Visiting Research Associates
Visiting research associates are affiliated with the program for one year or less. This is an ideal fit for scholars who are on sabbatical from another academic institution. Visiting research associates may apply for Visiting Scholar status by the annual February deadline or leave the program at the end of their appointment.
Application Deadlines
- May 1 for Sept. 1 start
- Oct. 1 for Jan. 1 start
- March 1 for June 1 start
Dissertation Scholars
This affiliation is appropriate for scholars who are in the final stages of completing their dissertation. This is a one-year maximum affiliation with no opportunity to renew.
Application deadline: June 1
