Research and Funding

Brandeis supports research from the inception of a proposal to the closing of an award. Various offices at Brandeis oversee the process to make sure that applications are submitted with institutional approval. Once a grant is awarded, these offices ensure compliance with federal, state and Brandeis policies. Brandeis also provides financial oversight to assist with deliverables such as the interim and final financial reports.

Faculty seeking grants should contact their Grant Administrator early in the process. They can help you with the application process (project approval form, budget, forms, and required signatures), as well as the post-award side of managing the award (staying on track with your budget and ensuring that all deliverables are submitted in a timely way). Please note that faculty in the Division of Science should contact scipre-award@brandeis.edu for pre-award grant assistance, and scifinance@brandeis.edu for post-award grant assistance. All other faculty in the School of Arts & Sciences should contact Judy Appel at judyappel@brandeis.eduAdditional information and resources can be found at the Research at Brandeis website, the Office of Research Administration website, and the Corporate and Foundation Relations website.

Working with a grant administrator:
