About the Symposium
As the concepts and practices of social justice, and the frequently negative reactions to them, have gained a deeper hold on the popular consciousness, Classicists have taken an increasing interest in the diversity of both the ancient world and of our own profession. Recent studies advance our understanding of construction of alterity in Greco-Roman antiquity, and online publications continue to provoke us to question what effects race and gender have in general and on our own perceptions of our field.
