Exit Interviews for Student Loan Recipients

Exit Counseling is mandatory for all students who are leaving the university (withdrawal or leave of absence) or receiving a degree. It does not cause loans to go into repayment, but certifies your understanding of your loans at this time.

Stafford and Graduate Plus Loans

If you borrowed a Federal Subsidized Loan, a Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, or a Federal Graduate Plus Loan (Not a Parent Plus Loan), you will complete your Exit Counseling online using your FSA User ID and Password.  If you have not yet applied for these, please visit studentaid.gov/fsa-id.

If you need assistance in obtaining an FSA ID and password, you can also call 1-800-557-7394.

Once you have your FSA ID and password, visit studentaid.gov/exit-counseling and follow the instructions.

Brandeis will receive confirmation of your completed Exit Counseling within two business days.

Perkins, Brandeis, Saval or Wein Loans

If you borrowed a Federal Perkins Loan, Brandeis Loan, Saval Loan, or Brandeis Wein Loan; these loans require you to complete online exit counseling on the ECSI website.

Click on the Sign In or Register link at the top of the page.  After you have successfully created a new profile and/or signed in, you may need to connect your account to you profile.

To do so, click on the Connect An Account button. When connecting your account, you will be asked to provide your Heartland Key Number, which you will receive in an email from the ECSI Webmaster email account. Once connected, you will be redirected to your account.

To complete your exit interview on a connected account, click the school's name, then click the View Account button. Your exit interview will be listed under the documents tab.  You must complete a separate exit for each type of loan.

To access, view and manage your account information, please visit the ECSI website and click on the Sign In or Register link at the top of the page. After you have successfully created a new profile and/or singed in, you may need to connect your account to you profile. To do so, click on the Connect An Account button. When connecting your account, you will  be asked to provide your Heartland Key (Heartland Key is your Heartland Account number). Once connected, you will be redirected to your account.

To complete your exit interview on a connected account, click the school's name, then click the View Account button. Your exit interview will be listed under the documents tab.
