3/14 Coronavirus/COVID-19 operational updates
March 14, 2020
Below are today’s updates related to the university’s shift to online learning as we work to mitigate the risk of coronavirus/COVID-19 to our community. Many of these are in answer to questions we have received from community members at email@example.com. Previous days’ updates are available online.
Housing configuration for remaining students is not yet determined
Brandeis is strongly urging all students who can leave campus to do so as soon as they can. There have been many questions and rumors about the housing configuration for the students who receive permission to stay from the Department of Community Living because they are unable to leave. DCL is quickly processing applications and assisting departing students at the same time, and will not be able to make new housing assignments immediately. We ask for your patience as the university works through this process.
Thank you for supporting our students
Nearly 300 community members have donated more than $50,000 to the Student Emergency Grant Fund in just a little over a day. This fund will be used to help students in need with expenses they are incurring around travel and this shift to online learning. Students facing financial difficulty at this time can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Box pickup time extended
The Department of Community Living office will be open on Saturday, 3/14 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to distribute Storage Squad supplies and for students to return any extra supplies so we can share them with others. This is for Storage Squad customers only.
Mailbox keys should be returned to the mailroom in Usdan during business hours. If students are unable to drop keys before they leave, they may be mailed to Brandeis University, Mail Services, Usdan Student Center, MS 047, 415 South Street, Waltham, MA 02453.
