Share aspects of your culture, through your lens, and from wherever you are in the world! This group is open to students all over the world, who identify as a person of color (POC) and/or as an international student. In this workshop, members will serve as expert/presenter and share aspects of their culture(s) through their own eyes. It is up to the expert/presenter how and what they share, but some examples may include: music, pictures, stories, interviews, dress, artifacts, maps, food/recipes, dance. To enhance cultural awareness and to work towards decreasing intergroup bias, presenters will also be asked to share at least one misconception or misportrayal of their culture(s) held in mainstream (or White Supremacist) culture/media. "Is there something you want people outside of your culture to know or better understand?" Workshop leaders will present first as a model/example. If you are interested please call the front desk at 781-736-3730 to get connected!

In this co-learning space we will meditate on the wisdom of Black feminists, abolitionists, radical spiritualists, transformative justice practitioners, and other freedom fighters in order to better understand our individual, community, and state-sanctioned approaches to harm, accountability, and healing. Each week we will learn, unlearn, dream, expand, and vision how to practice and embody the values of these liberation movements in relationship to ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities. The group space will be held by Vilma Uribe (she/her) and Landen Motyka (they/them), and group members will collectively shape and lead the discussion, with guest speakers along the way. Students, staff and faculty are all welcome, let's disrupt hierarchies together! Please email Landen at Lmotyka@brandeis.edu if you're interested in signing up or have any questions.
