This psychoeducational/support group will provide a safe and supportive space for students to discuss what it means to be a man on campus and in today’s society, and explore how this relates to mental health and wellness. The group provides an opportunity to recognize and break down stereotypes about masculinity. For example, The ways in which many men have been brought up, that is —to be self-sufficient and able to take care of themselves, can make them feel isolated. They think they’re alone or weak. As a result, these feelings can impact an individual’s emotional well-being. Themes will include masculinity and other intersecting identities, emotional intelligence, healthy relationships, and men’s cognitive/mental health. This support group is intended for and open to any students who identify as men or masculine. This psychoeducational/support group will provide a safe and supportive space for students to discuss what it means to be a man on campus and in today’s society, and explore how this relates to mental health and wellness. Workshop Leader: Roxann Mascoll
Date and time: Mondays at 5pm
Welcome to WALK THE TALK Discussion group and your co-leaders are Roxann Mascoll and Veena Smith. This group is for and by black/POC peeps and gender identities. Walk, listen and talk to reconnect to the power of black liberation. For this discussion group, you are expected to take time for yourself. We are asking that you walk everyday and listen to the selected podcast. You can find the blackhistorybootcamp podcast hosted and created by girltrek.org on Spotify or Apple podcast.
Just know that there will be NO judgment if you don't find time to listen to the podcast prior to the discussion group. The purpose and goal is to help us formalize a habit for self care and this is just a fun way to do it. Whether you listen or not, walk or not you will still be able to engage in the conversation because the discussion group is about us. Please come and enjoy the space we are creating for you in the group. Mondays at 5pm please contact Roxann at romasco@brandeis.edu
