IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Additional Hours at The Stein

This semester, beginning on Oct. 8, the Stein will be open for additional hours on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. (in addition to its regular hours).

On Monday, Oct. 15, President Liebowitz will be there to pour your beer from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Free snacks will be provided, and bar service, including soft drinks, beer and wine, will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; however, the kitchen will not be open on these days. We hope this semester-long pilot program will be another vehicle to promote community building across our campus. We hope the success of this pilot will lend to the permanent addition of these new Stein hours. We look forward to seeing you there!

IN OTHER NEWS
Protect Your Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

The Information Technology Services (ITS) Security Office is working to protect our community's Personally Identifiable Information* (PII), such as social security, driver's license, or account numbers. Protecting our PII is a shared responsibility. In compliance with Massachusetts regulations, ITS works hard to protect the sensitive information of our Brandeis community members. As part of this effort, beginning Sunday, October 14, ITS will be remotely deleting hidden or discarded files containing PII on university-owned Windows computers. Please note that we will only delete files that have been in temporary folders and the Recycle Bin for more than 15 days. This process will occur weekly on Sundays at 12 a.m.

Learn about how you can help protect PII.

Register for Duo Security Two-Factor Authentication

As part of the ITS Security initiative, we are moving towards implementing Duo Security two-factor authentication across campus. Passwords can be easily compromised due to phishing or malware. Duo Security protects your Brandeis account by requiring a second factor to login to Brandeis services. By validating your device, such as a smartphone or tablet, Duo helps protect you from fraudulent login attempts to your account. ITS is working with departments to enable Duo two-factor authentication on faculty and staff Brandeis accounts -- more than half are already enrolled in Duo -- and we also encourage you to register on your own. All faculty and staff must be enrolled in Duo by April 1, 2019, when the Workday implementation for HR and Finance goes live.

CAMPUS HAPPENINGS
Stress Management Workshop
Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018
10-11 a.m.
Hassenfeld Conference Center, Luria

When harnessed effectively, stress can be a source of energy and motivation. However, all too often we let stress build to unmanageable levels, allowing it to impact our physical and mental health. During this seminar, we will review common stressors and symptoms of stress, as well as our individual responses to demands in our personal and professional lives. The focus will be on developing strategies for coping with stress and increasing our ability to transform stress into a motivating, rather than debilitating, force in our lives.
