In fall 2022, Dr. Ariel Ludwig will begin a two-year role as the Florence Levy Kay Post-Doctoral Fellow in Machine Learning, Law, and Racial Justice. After completing a Master of Public Health degree at Yale University, she worked in non-profit and government agencies addressing the intersection of health and racialized mass incarceration. Facing the complexities of entrenched systems, she sought out new concepts and tools in Virginia Tech’s interdisciplinary Science and Technology in Society (STS) doctoral program. There, her work culminated in an ethnographic dissertation titled “The Carceral Body Multiple: Intake in the New York City jails.
