Profile
Dr. Sass was an economist at the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. He was the founding editor of the Bank’s economics magazine, The Regional Review and author of The Promise of Private Pensions (Harvard University Press, 1997), The Pragmatic Imagination (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1982), and with Alicia Munnell, Social Security and the Stock Market (Upjohn, 2006) and Working Longer (Brookings Institution Press, 2008).Dr. Sass earned his B.A. from the University of Delaware and his Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University.
