Profile
Pascal Menoret's teaching and research interests include urban anthropology, infrastructure, protest, and ethnographic fieldwork. He is the author of four books on Saudi Arabia, including The Saudi Enigma: A History (ZedBooks 2005), L'Arabie, des routes de l'encens à l'ère du pétrole (Gallimard 2010), and the award-winning Joyriding in Riyadh: Oil, Urbanism and Road Revolt (Cambridge University Press 2014). His latest book, Graveyard of Clerics: Everyday Activism in Saudi Arabia, came out in 2020 at Stanford University Press.Menoret is a publisher at Éditions Wildproject (Marseille), where he specializes in decolonial ecology. He taught at Princeton University and New York University Abu Dhabi. He conducted research at Harvard University and studied at the Université de Provence and at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he received his PhD in history in 2008.
