I spent most of my career at a small liberal arts college, teaching writing and literature courses and serving as Associate Dean of Liberal Arts. After retiring in 2016, I came to Brandeis on a part-time basis and have taught Composition and UWS for the past three years. My recent focus has been on the City of Boston, studying the city I love from sociological, literary and Historical viewpoints. I have developed a UWS course: Reading and Writing Boston. Mentoring 1st year and 1st generation students is an important role for me. My interest in environmental literature complements my lifestyle living on an old historic fruit and vegetable farm just 22 miles west of campus and residing in a passive solar house. Sustainable living is a very important part of my life practices and philosophy. I also enjoy reading Jewish literature and participating in a book club at my local temple.Courses Taught
