Hagit Weihs has been teaching Accounting and Finance courses for undergraduate, graduate and executive MBA students in the last eighteen years. She has taught courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, financial statement analysis, security analysis and finance. Prior to her position at the International Business School, Hagit taught at Bentley University, Boston University and Tel-Aviv University.Hagit serves as the undergraduate advising head for the Business Program and as the Business Honors program coordinator. In addition to her teaching duties, she is engaged in consulting, as well as research in financial accounting. In particular she is interested in studying alternative accounting standards and regimes, and their impact on financial reporting and investors. Between 2001-2003 she was a visiting fellow at Harvard University and conducted research with faculty from Harvard Business School.
Hagit has over 25 years of experience in the accounting and finance disciplines. Prior to focusing on teaching, Hagit held a number of controller and CFO positions mainly in the insurance industry. Prior to these roles she worked as a senior auditor for KPMG Israel, where she is a certified public accountant.
In addition to her professional experience, she has been serving as co-president of the Boston chapter of the alumni association of Recanati School of Business Administration of Tel-Aviv University since 2001. Since 2010 she has also been a member of the Boston committee of the American Friends of Tel-Aviv University, serving as a Co-Chair from 2010-2015.
Hagit holds a Ph.D. in Financial Accounting and an MBA in Finance from Tel-Aviv University, and a B.A. in Accounting and Economics from Bar-Ilan University.
She was voted Teacher of the Year by IBS graduate students in 2009.
