Overwhelmingly, yes! The queer and trans community at Brandeis is numerous and extremely active, which combined with our inclusive policies and services, makes Brandeis an incredibly welcoming home for LGBTQIA+ students and employees alike!
Check out our Get Involved page to learn about community groups for students, employees, and alumni.
Our Community Living department offers a Gender Inclusive Housing option that is available for students of any class year, including first years!
Gender-inclusive housing is defined as a housing option in which two or more students may share a multiple-occupancy bedroom, in mutual agreement, regardless of the students’ sex or gender. Gender-inclusive housing provides housing options for students who may identify as transgender, or are questioning their gender identity, or do not wish to prescribe to gender classifications. This option provides students who are uncomfortable with a same-sex roommate or do not wish to have a same-sex roommate with more housing options. Gender-inclusive bathrooms are designated on mixed-gender floors when possible.
Your Brandeis group or organization can use the Gender and Sexuality Center space for a meeting or event space. You can meet either once or regularly, as available. Please submit a request form at least one week in advance of the event. Priority is given to groups or organizations that advance the GSC mission.
