Brandeis Faculty and Staff Pride Alliance
The Brandeis Faculty and Staff Pride Alliance is dedicated to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and allied members at Brandeis in their professional and community roles. The organization is open to all faculty and staff who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community or wish to be part of the peer network that supports the LGBTQIA+ community on campus. Meets monthly in the Gender and Sexuality Center.
Brandeis Queer Graduate Student Union
The Brandeis Queer Graduate Student Union provides opportunities to build community among the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning, intersex and asexual graduate student population at Brandeis. The organization hosts events to raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ graduate students on campus and creates social spaces that promote and engage in community. Meets in the Gender and Sexuality Center.
Undergraduate Student Groups
Queer People of Color Coalition
The Queer People of Color Coalition addresses issues at the convergence of gender, sexuality and race. Considering other phenomena such as class status, nationality and ethnicity, the organization strives to understand how various social, economic and political phenomena complicate notions of race and queer identity.
- Sex and Sexualities Symposium
The Sex and Sexualities Symposium is an intellectual discussion group that contemplates issues surrounding sexualities, gender and sex. The organization holds an annual undergraduate sexualities research conference in April.
Shalem is a queer Jewish social group, affiliated with both Triskelion and Hillel, that is open to all expressions of identity, religion, sexuality and gender. Meets every other Wednesday from either 8-9 p.m. or 9-10 p.m. in the Hillel Lounge at the Usdan Student Center.
TransBrandeis meets regularly to discuss transgender issues and life on campus. The group was instrumental in developing a gender-inclusive housing program and creating gender-inclusive bathrooms on campus. For more information and to get involved, join the email list. Meets Wednesdays at 8 p.m. in the Rainbow Room at the Gender and Sexuality Center (Usdan G069).
Triskelion is the university's oldest organization dedicated to the support and enrichment of Brandeis’ lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied community. The group seeks to foster and perpetuate an environment, both within Brandeis and the greater community, of acceptance, support, understanding and equality with regard to sexual orientation and gender identity and expression. This is accomplished through advocacy, activism, social events, and creating and maintaining “safe spaces,” as well as both referring to and utilizing other relevant campus resources.
