Brandeis IBS – Master of Science in Finance (MSF) Program

Debarshi Nandy, Program Director, Master of Science in Finance: Our Master of Science in Finance Program at Brandeis University provides you with a deeper understanding of financial economics and the quantitative tools necessary to redefine the world of finance and financial markets. Students who come into the MSF program have a passion for finance and have a global mindset. Our school has an environment that nurtures the love for the subject and provides them with integrated classroom experience, where they can discuss and work through challenging, real-world issues. We have, as part of the MSF, an oral participation requirement, which forces you to apply this in-class training in your internships or on consulting field projects where you deal with real-world issues.

Andy Detwiler, CEO of Virtua Research: It is very unusual that you can find a candidate that has strong financial modeling as well as an aptitude towards Excel. Most of the schools have a more generalized, broader curriculum, but we like the specific skillsets that come in from a Brandeis student.

Debarshi Nandy, Program Director, Master of Science in Finance: We encourage students to meet with faculty on a one-on-one basis in order to delve into their interests and develop an understanding of how their curriculum would help them achieve a particular career outcome. Our professors come from some of the leading institutions in the country, as well as some of the leading corporate entities. We are an international business school, which means that as an MSF student, you would be interacting with students from all different parts of the world, different countries, and also in different programs.

Baran Budak, MSF ’14: The diversities in MSF almost feel like you are working in a finance department of United Nations, with so many people from around the country, from around the world and you are being part of it.

Debarshi Nandy, Program Director, Master of Science in Finance: Graduates from MSF go on to have careers in investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, consulting groups, and different firms, financial analysts, venture capital and private equity, and so on. A World Ready MSF student would be able to apply their knowledge not only in any particular regional market, but across the globe.
