The Asia-Pacific Center organizes conferences, seminars, graduate and undergraduate courses, and study-abroad programs in partnership with Asia-Pacific universities.
Guest speakers and visitors have included Barbara Weisel, Trade Representative for the United States; Kurt Tong, Economic Coordinator and U.S. Senior Official for APEC; Ambassador Chan Heng Chee; and the Honorable Fu Ziying, China's Vice Minister of Commerce.
The Trade, Innovation and China conference was held April 5, 2024 to honor retiring faculty members Peter Petri and Gary Jefferson.
The Asia-Pacific Center for Economics and Business supports faculty and student research on topics including Asia-Pacific trade, Chinese innovation, Indian economy and the technological rivalry between the U.S. and China.
The Brandeis APC is one of 14 member institutions of the U.S. Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Study Centers Consortium. In addition to serving as co-director of the Brandeis APC, Brandeis International Business School interim dean Peter Petri has also served as chair of the consortium. The APEC Study Center (ASC) network was established by the APEC Leaders' Summit of 1993 in Seattle. Each of APEC's 21 member economies has, or is in the process of creating, an APC.
