The Global Green Initiative and Corporate Sustainability

Preparing Tomorrow's Global Citizens

The Global Green Initiative is a multidisciplinary program in research and education dedicated to innovative thinking in corporate sustainability. The initiative’s mission is to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of environmental and social concerns on business strategy, while also devising and implementing new approaches to sustainability. A talk by Tom Friedman, '75 launched the initiative.

The Initiative in Action

The initiative currently encompasses a wide array of the school’s activities in this area, including cutting-edge research by Brandeis IBS faculty, high-profile speakers from industry on campus, student events, and courses related to sustainability.

Launched in 2008, the Global Green Initiative builds on Justice Louis Brandeis’ belief that companies ought to address broader social purposes beyond profits and that financial return should not be the only measure of success in business.
