IBS Appoints Director for Executive Programs

IBS has appointed an experienced professional from the world of finance to a new position to develop executive education programs for the School.

Jerome (Jerry) Abarbanel comes to the job of Executive Director for Executive Programs from a distinguished career in academia and the corporate world. 

His most recent position was at State Street Corporation as Senior Vice President for Leadership & Change and Director of the State Street Institute. Prior to that he held a series of positions of increasing importance in leadership and organizational development, working for such world-class organizations as Citicorp, Dun and Bradstreet, and General Electric Capital. Earlier in his career, he served as a Full Time Lecturer in the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering at Columbia University.

Jerry's first project as Director has been the organization of IBS's executive program onMacroeconomic Policy and Management, an intensive two-week certificate course that provides participants with a solid understanding of the core economic frameworks and latest policy findings that impact developing countries and equips them with the tools need to design and implement effective economic strategies, policies, and programs in their own countries. The program attracted global interest, with participants from countries as far apart as Nigeria and Tajikistan.

Jerry is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the Rutgers University's College of Engineering and holds an MBA and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Theory from Cornell University.
