Career Strategies Center: Alumni-Student Mentoring Program

The Career Strategies Center is proud to connect alumni mentors with current Brandeis IBS students to support and provide strategic guidance for job search and career goals.

Mentoring at Brandeis IBS works because of its intentionality - the time that both parties invest in the program is crucial to its success and to the creation of a successful professional relationship. Mentors act as role models, using their experiences in the workplace and in the world to guide our students. They often serve as an additional reference source, enhance students' professional identities, provide personal and professional network connections, and act as a coach and path-blazer.

The mentoring program is a full-school collaboration that fortifies the relationship between alumni and students, faculty and staff, academics and career-focused initiatives - all with the goal of enhancing our World Ready community.

Program Testimonials

"My mentor is very helpful and answered all of the questions that I had. He is currently working at Dell/EMC where I will do my summer internship, so the information he has provided has been very valuable. My mentor has become a good friend who I continuously consult with."
-Uri Kedem, MBA '18

"The mentor program exceeded my expectations! My mentor and I share similar experiences. She decided to pursue her passion after graduating and now works for a start-up company. She's surrounded by interesting colleagues and travels a lot. Her experiences are inspiring and her suggestions are genuine. I am so grateful that Brandeis IBS offers the opportunity to connect students with such extraordinary alumni."
-Jiaqi Wang, MA '18

"My mentor gave me lots of advice on preparing for an interview. It is helpful that I share similar experiences with his current work so that we can talk about the more technical aspects of our industry. Our next step is to meet for a mock interview to further refine my skills."
