As a Brandeis University graduate student, you are part of an eclectic mix of curious, bright, and serious-minded learners, spread across four different schools and programs, but joined in a common pursuit: creating new knowledge that will help to change the world.

Your cohort is over 1,100 strong: 94 graduate students in the School of Arts, Humanities, and Culture; 274 in the School of Business and Economics; 350 in the School of Social Sciences and Social Policy; and 396 in the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology. They are a diverse group, hailing from seventy-three different countries: besides the United States, the countries with the most current Brandeis graduate students are China, India, Nepal, Ghana, Pakistan, and South Korea. Graduate students range in age from twenty-one to seventy-five.

Approximately eighty-five percent of you attend classes on campus through one of our four academic schools. There, you work with outstanding faculty, are able to mentor undergraduate students, and, of course, learn from each others' vast experiences and knowledge.

The Office of Graduate Affairs is here to support you and help build a graduate student community. We host a range of events each year: these include a celebration of Graduate Student Appreciation Week, the annual Three Minute Thesis Competition, a Commencement reception for graduating students, a book club, weekly graduate student breakfasts during the academic year, and even a summer ice cream truck! Students from all four schools are encouraged to attend these events to meet and connect with others.
