Dependent Care Resource & Referral Pilot Program

To complement the co-located Lemberg Children’s Center.

This is a pilot program, intended to provide additional information and opportunities for faculty, staff and PhD students to be able to access quality childcare or dependent care.

This is intended as a first phase of dependent care program improvements, with additional phases to follow as we gain experience about services and needs. This pilot program is for a two-year period beginning January 2020.

All benefit-eligible faculty and staff, and all full-time PhD students

Back Up Child Dependent Care

The next time your regular care arrangements fall through, you won’t have to skip a beat. Rely on Bright Horizons Back-Up Care™ for high-quality care when the sitter cancels, school is closed, or you simply need an extra hand. Access up to 5* annual days of back-up at subsidized rates. Center-based care is $15 per child/day or $25 per family/day. In your home (a care provider comes to your home) service co-pay: $6/hour, minimum 4 hour.

Back Up Elder and Adult Care

Adult/elder care is available whenever you need an extra hand. Access up to 5* annual days of back-up at subsidized rates. In-home care for adults is $6 per hour, minimum 4 hour. You can even book available back-up care spaces instantly!

* For the pilot program, there is an annual limit of 5 uses of back-up care through Bright Horizons service above, for in-center, at home, or combination of both.

This program is coordinated by the Office of Human Resources/Benefits, and is provided by Bright Horizons by contract and by other publicly available resources which have been gathered for your convenience. Brandeis University does not have internal dependent care counseling, guidance, or expertise to provide to members of the Brandeis community.

  • Preferred access to Bright Horizon partnership centers in our region--these centers are operated independently and also may offer tuition discounts to employers in this program.

SPECIAL NOTE: The resources in this program are made available by the Office of Human Resources (OHR), but OHR does not have staff training or resources to offer in-person counseling on dependent care. Part of the pilot process will be evaluating whether the provision of external resources will work well on a standalone basis.
