Miriam Kahn Samick ’80 of South Palm Beach, Fla., died on Nov. 22, 2011. She leaves a daughter, Marilyn; two grandsons, Joshua and Samuel; and three great-grandchildren.

Ronald McCarthy, Ph.D.’83, of Groton, Mass., who taught at Merrimack College for 25 years and served as chair of the school’s sociology department, died on Oct. 20, 2011. A dedicated researcher, he was also affiliated with the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University and the Albert Einstein Institution. Ron also served as director of the Matsunaga Institute for Peace at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. He leaves his wife, Marianne; a son, Brendan; and his mother, Jean.
