John Bush Jones, Faculty, of Providence, Rhode Island, in December. Remembered fondly by generations of theater students, “JBJ” received the Louis Dem­bitz Brandeis Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 1996; directed numerous plays, including “Ruddigore” and “She Loves Me”; and published six books on American musicals and popular song. Survived by a son and a grandson.

Kathy M. “Nanny” (Casey) MacDougall, Staff, of Waltham, Massachusetts, on Sept. 28. She worked in dining services as well as the bookstore at Brandeis. Survived by three children, four grandchildren, and eight brothers and sisters.

Lawrence Schwartz, Faculty, of New York City, on Sept. 27. After teaching in the physics department at Brandeis, he was a scientific adviser at Schlumberger-Doll Research. Survived by wife Kathleen, two children and three grandchildren.
