Charles Gordon, Friend, of Dedham, Massachusetts, onAug. 31, 2022. He grew the family business, Burnes of Boston, into a global company; enjoyed golf and tennis; and was a loving husband to the sweetheart he met at age 16. Survived by wife Lulla, a son, a daughter, and four grandchildren.

Arlene G. Kaufman, Friend, of West Palm Beach, Florida, on July 27, 2022. A community leader, philanthropist, and advocate, she strengthened younger generations’ connections with Israel and the Jewish community, and made the world a better place through leadership in numerous organizations. Survived by husband Sandy Baklor, three children, and nine grandchildren.

Sandra Kestenberg, Brandeis National Committee, of Canton, Massachusetts, on Oct. 1. Known for her dazzling personality, fashion sense, and culinary skills, she saw the good in everyone and was devoted to her husband of 55 years, David, before his death. Survived by four children, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a companion.

Stanley Knapp, Friend, of Beachwood, Ohio, on July 5, 2022. Survived by a sister and a niece.

Elaine M. Schuster, H’13, Fellow, Brandeis National Committee, of Boston, on Aug. 1, 2022. A nationally recognized civic leader, she founded the Elaine and Gerald Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism at Brandeis; was appointed by President Barack Obama to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts board and by President Bill Clinton to the U.N. General Assembly public delegation; and, with her husband, Gerry, championed the cause of families in need. Survived by four children, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann Snider, Fellow, Friend, of Edgartown, Massachusetts, on Aug. 13, 2022. An interior designer, lifelong learner, volunteer, and philanthropist, she collected modern art; enjoyed Martha’s Vineyard; and, with her husband, Stanley, traveled widely. Survived by two sons, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Richard Usen, Friend, of Lexington, Massachusetts, on Oct. 28. Described by many as a Renaissance man, he was a hard worker whose favorite hobbies were flying, sailing, and learning to fix anything that was broken. Survived by wife Judith, a son, two stepchildren, and five grandchildren.
