Thesis Deadlines
Thesis Deadlines for your Senior Year:
-
April/May of your Junior Year – Pick a primary advisor and start thinking of a topic to work on the next year. Make sure you let the administrator know that you are approved to write a thesis and request to be registered for NEJS 99d in the fall (you will get 4 credits towards your NEJS major for this course).
-
September/October – Work with your advisor to finalize your topic and research question.
-
November, December – Work on your research; check-in regularly with your advisor. Register for NEJS 99d again for the spring semester. You will get another 4 credits for this semester.
-
January – The second and third faculty members should be chosen through consultation with the primary advisor, the UAH, and the student. The second and third readers should be chosen by the end of January, and be officially asked to join the committee by the advisor (not the student writing the thesis).
-
January, February, early March – Start writing your paper; check-in regularly with your advisor and other readers.
-
March 15th - First Draft due to advisor.
-
April 1st - Submit updated draft to all 3 committee members.
-
April 30th – Student should defend his/her thesis by this date. The faculty should fill out the Certification Form and indicate if the student has earned: No Honors, Honors, High Honors, or Highest Honors. This will be input into the student’s check-out sheet by the admin in May, before graduation. Faculty can decide to submit the thesis for a Humanities Award.
