Descriptive Transcript

Peppy music plays as video opens to Brandeis University entrance sign surrounded by flowers as cars pass by on South Street. Next, the shot rotates around the Louis Brandeis statue under a cloudy sky with the green Shapiro Campus Center in the background. Then the scene shifts to signs on a brick building that say “Welcome Brandeis University.”


A student in a mask named Dakota speaks to the camera with sidewalks and greenery behind: “We are in Waltham, Massachusetts at Brandeis University.”

A voice speaks while scenes of people walking around residence halls with boxes plays, before shifting to Mika wearing a mask: “Right now people are moving in, just walking around getting used to campus.”

Ethan and Cheng, both wearing masks, stand in the parking lot with cars passing by. Cheng speaks: “I grabbed my key and my student ID. I went in and took me two minutes to get everything that I needed.”

Theodore, standing in front of a brick residence hall, speaks: “The orientation leaders especially were very helpful, just guiding us along.”

In the background, scenes of orientation leaders, community advisors, and staff talking to students and families, directing cars, and carrying boxes play in quick succession.


Dakota, in a mask with back to Fellow’s Garden, speaks: “Everything's really smooth and the orientation leaders and move-in helpers were super helpful.”


Student speaks off camera as Shapiro Campus Center atrium filled with banners and families milling around is displayed. Finally, the shot settles on James in Massell Quad with people playing basketball behind saying: “They had an entire section of orientation leaders sitting right outside the dorm, just super excited to see us.”

Dani speaks off camera while scenes of people waiting in line for COVID testing, speaking to staff with masks on in parking lot before landing on Dani in mask in Fellows Garden with students passing behind her. She says: “With COVID, it's definitely been different and challenging but overall it was surprisingly smooth.”

Diana and Samantha stand with Massell Pond and two brick residence halls in the background. Samantha speaks: “I'm most excited to meet people from all over the world because Brandeis has a great international student rate. It's gonna be great to meet people from lots of backgrounds and diversity.” As Samantha speaks, the scene shifts to a series of clips of students unpacking cars, riding in golf carts, and moving into their rooms.

Dani speaks from the Fellow’s Garden: “I'm excited to meet people. I'm excited to explore Boston.”

Mika speaks in front of a brick residence hall: “ I'm excited to really find out what interests me since I'm undecided and I'm really excited to meet a bunch of people around and see where everyone's from.”

Dakota speaks from Fellow’s Garden: “ I'm excited to get involved in the music program at Brandeis. Music is my minor so I'm definitely going to involve myself in a lot of the music theory classes and the jazz band.

Dani speaks from Fellows Garden, before the scene shifts to a montage of students moving in: “I'm hoping to grow both intellectually and personally. That's what I want the most I think and Brandeis is a good place to do that.”

Lyla in a mask speaks from in front of a brick building: “I'm excited to start diving in deeper into new academics and different fields of study.” As Lyla speaks, the scene shifts to students walking past other students eating lunch in grass and at picnic tables.

Diana and Samantha stand with Massell Pond and two brick residence halls in the background. Samantha speaks: “I'm a neuroscience major and I want to go to medical school so I'm looking for Brandeis to help me get there.”

Diana speaks: “Also, with the Brandeis Core, you can learn a lot more than just your designated major.”

Lyla speaks in front of brick building: “I've seen a lot of people interacting in the dining halls and starting to socialize and everybody's really welcoming so it's been a pleasure to move in.” While Lyla speaks, the scene shifts to parents hugging their student in the Shapiro Campus Center atrium and two people hugging each other next to a car.

The scene transitions to a group of new first-year students playing pick up basketball during move-in.

The final scene is a group of students walking down a pathway with window-covered building in background waving at camera, before the scene fades into a Brandeis logo.
