RUCD 165

Survey Design and Analysis

Prerequisites: RUCD 101 and RUCD 140 for UCD students. (RUCD 101 for all others.)

Surveys, when done well, are a valuable part of the UX and market research toolkit. This course will cover the entire survey design and analysis process, including writing effective questions, pre-testing, data collection strategies, and reporting. In addition to designing and fielding their own survey, students will learn when and how to utilize specialized questionnaires such as the Net Promoter Score and System Usability Scale. Relevant statistical concepts related to sampling and data analysis (e.g., margin of error and confidence intervals) will be introduced in a manner accessible to students with no previous knowledge of statistics. Lastly, surveys will be placed in their proper context of a mixed methods research strategy.
