Waltham and Giddon Scholarships
Waltham and Giddon Scholars – take a credit bearing course for free!
Thanks to the generosity of the Franklin Giddon Endowment and Brandeis University, talented juniors and seniors from the Waltham, Newton and Wellesley high schools are offered the chance to take a credit-bearing Undergraduate course at Brandeis University.
Courses are available all semesters – including the summer semester. All are courses taught by regular Brandeis faculty, with Brandeis undergraduates as your classmates.
Interested high school students should talk with their guidance counselor so a school guidance counselor can recommend your participation. The guidance counselor recommends students for these opportunities. Funding is limited, and not everyone who is interested will be able to participate. Before enrolling you in the course, we will have your participation approved by the faculty member. After enrollment, you’ll participate in a short orientation by Brandeis University staff.
You may look at the Brandeis Registrar page for the current course catalogue. If you are planning to take a course during the academic year, remember that most courses are offered in-person, and will require coming to the Brandeis campus. If you are planning to take a course during the summer, courses are both online and in person. For in person courses, be sure to consider the time and travel requirements to get to campus.
Be sure to consider courses that fit your schedule, that do not require prerequisites and match your passions! We recommend these courses – and suggest you review the meeting times in the course catalogue.
