Sad News: Hersh Goldberg-Polin, son of Brandeis alumna Rachel Goldberg-Polin '92 and Jon Polin
Dear Brandeis Community,
We are heartbroken to learn of and share the terrible news that six hostages in Gaza were killed yesterday, one of whom was Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin. Hersh is the son of Brandeis alumna Rachel Goldberg-Polin ’92 and Jon Polin.
Jessica and I met with Rachel and Jon during our last two trips to Israel. The two have been steadfast in their efforts to bring Hersh home, in keeping the hostage crisis in the public eye—most recently in Chicago at the Democratic National Convention—and in calling upon us to recognize the suffering of all the innocent victims and the immense pain felt by their loved ones in Israel and Gaza. We send our condolences to Rachel, Jon, and Hersh’s sisters as we grieve their devastating loss.
Our thoughts and prayers continue for the safe and speedy return of all the remaining hostages being held in Gaza, including Sagui Dekel-Chen, son of Brandeis alumnus Jonathan Dekel-Chen, PhD’02.
May Hersh’s memory be a blessing.
Sincerely,
Ron Liebowitz
