Leaves of Absence / Program Extensions

Brandeis Online programs offer flexibility in course sequencing and program completion planning.

Students in a master’s degree program may opt not to enroll in a particular session, up to a maximum of four consecutive sessions. If a student exceeds this maximum, they may be withdrawn from their program. Please note that a session during which a student enrolls in a course but then drops that course would not count as a session of enrollment. A student opting not to enroll in a particular session will not be placed on formal leave of absence and will be expected to continue checking their Brandeis email and remain in contact with their Student Advisor in order to ensure all program requirements are met during their allotted four years.

Students who are at risk of exceeding the four-session time off limit or four-year program completion time limit must contact Brandeis Online  for advising. Extensions to either policy are subject to approval.
