Introduces the core methods of ethnography—participant observation, interviewing, note-taking, and analysis—while guiding students to design and carry out their own small-scale research projects in local settings. Emphasis is placed on reflexivity, ethics, and translating lived experience into compelling ethnographic writing and other creative, multimodal forms of representation. Usually offered every year.
