[Bonjour! Je m'appelle Hollie Harder et bienvenue en français 20. Hello, my name is Holly harder. Welcome to French 20.

This is a video to describe what you will learn and accomplish in the second semester French language and culture course. The French 20 course is designed to help students continue their study of the French language and develop their communication skills; students will learn to exchange meaningful information about each other while cultivating a deeper understanding of the Francophone world. In this class, you will continue to communicate in French and feel more comfortable doing so. You will continue to develop strategies that will allow you to use what you already know and to acquire new vocabulary related to everyday situations and cultural practices. In addition, you will reflect actively on the way you learn languages in order to become a more independent and autonomous learner.

You will also gain a larger appreciation of the French language and the Francophone cultures. You will interact with others with regards to future plans, you will continue to improve your pronunciation and your fluency, and you will expand your knowledge of the Francophone world. This course is part of the Brandeis core curriculum, part of the Global Engagement and World Languages and Cultures requirement. This course not only helps you continue to develop your French language skills so that you can express yourself clearly and effectively. But it also helps you understand social and cultural similarities and differences between your home culture and the French speaking world.
