Safe and Supported at Brandeis

Descriptive Transcript

The scene begins featuring Samantha B. '24, saying, “It's the perfect place to be a Jewish student. We feel supported, not only by each other but also by our peers, in a way that I don't see at most other campuses where I have friends who I talk to. There are so many different things that people need right now, whether it's a safe place to just exist. Whether it's academic accommodations. Whether it’s educational spaces and, Brandeis has been fantastic about making sure that not just one of those things is available but that they're all available.” While she’s speaking, viewers see a professor instructing their class, a student studying, a student typing on their laptop, and multiple students socializing outside a building on campus.

Samantha B. continues, “I never take it for granted when we walk around and, like, use Hebrew words in conversation. I never take it for granted when I take a class about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and know that everyone's going to be really respected, regardless of wherever they sit. I never take it for granted when I go to services. I never take it for granted that we are safe here and that we are supported here.” While she speaks, viewers see two clips of professors speaking and students lighting the menorah. The screen fades to white as blue text reads “Brandeis University.”
