Day In The Life: Amaima A. '27
Descriptive Transcript
The video opens where we see a dark room and a silouhetted Amaima A. is seen getting up from their bed and opening up the window shades. Once light from the window shades are opened up Amaima's decorated residence hall room is revealed.
White text on the bottom left corner of the screen appears that says:
"Wake up 7:45 AM"
Instrumental music is playing throughout the video.
The video then cuts to a scene where we see Amaima brushing their teeth in their residence hall bathroom.
The video then cuts to a close up video of Amaima addressing the camera as she stands in her residence hall room:
"Hi! My name's Amaima. I'm a first year international student from Lahore, Pakistan. Hoping to major in International and Global Studies. With a minor in History. And today I'm going to be taking you through a day in my life here at Brandeis University.
As Amaima addresses the camera white text appears on the left hand corner of the screen that says:
"Amaima A. '27
Major: International & Global Studies
Minor: History"
The video then cuts to Amaima walking outside on a sunny but chilly day on the Brandeis University campus as she is heading to the Shapiro Campus Center. She directly addresses the camera and says:
So my first class of the day is art, and it's in Goldman-Schwartz, which is on the other side of campus, and we're going to get there. But let's stop for a quick breakfast at Einstein's first.
The video cuts to a point of view shot of Amaima walking up to the Shapiro Campus Center and opening a door to go inside.
The video then cuts to a shot of Einstein Bros. Bagels inside the Shapiro Campus Center as Amaima approaches the counter to order food.
The video then cuts to a shot of Amaima's muffin and beverage on a table as she pans up to show off additional seating within the Shapiro Campus Center.
White text appears on screen that says:
"Breakfast at Einstein's 8:45 am"
The video then cuts to a shot outside the Shapiro Campus Center as Amaima is walking towards her next class. In front of us we see the Brandeis Spingold Theater Arts building. White text appears on the bottom left hand corner of the screen that says:
"Walking to art class"
The next video shows off the exterior of the Goldman-Schwartz Fine Arts Studio. White text appears on screen that says:
"Goldman-Schwartz Fine Arts Studio"
The video then cuts to inside Goldman-Schwartz and Amaima walks down a hall and to the entrance of her classroom and then cuts to a close of different teddy bears made out of different materials such as wood, wire, newspaper and cardboard. White text appears on screen on the bottom left corner that says:
"Sculpture Foundation: 3D Design I 9:05 am"
The video then cuts to Amaima outside in the Usdan Student Center courtyard as she stands next to a friend. She addresses the camera directly and says:
"Hey, guys, guess who I ran into. My name is Yasamine"
Her friend Yasamine addresses the camera and says:
"This is my bestie, boo, freshman Amaima."
Amaima speaks again and says:
"She's from the MSA, and she's a lovely, lovely person. You should always drop by in the lounge. It's in Lower Usdan, and we're going there right now."
Yasamine also addresses the camera and confirms:
"We're going there right now."
White text appears on the lower left of the screen as Amaima and Yasamine are interacting outside that says:
"Stopping by the Muslim Student Association (MSA) 11:30 am"
The video cuts to side the Muslim Student Association lounge and we see three students seated next to each other waving to the camera as they say in unison:
"Hi."
The student to the left of the screen addresses the camera and says:
"My name's Haya."
The student seated in the middle says:
"I'm an Amal,"
The last student on the end says:
I'm Reesha and welcome to the MSA."
The video then cuts to Amaima and her friend as she addresses the camera and says:
"I'm chilling with my friend Monya in the MSA lounge."
Monya directly says to the camera:
"Hi."
The video then cuts to a panning shot of the MSA lounge and shows a close up of Amaima's laptop and the classwork she is working on.
The video then cuts to a shot inside the The Hive dining center located inside the Usdan Student Center. White text appears on screen that says:
"Lunch - The Hive-Usdan 2 pm"
The video then cuts to Amaima addressing the camera as she's seated in front of a green and blue wall. The video then cuts to a panning shot of Amaima's lunch and laptop screen.
"So I'm currently at Usdan. I got some lunch from the Hive and I'm going to do my lunch and also simultaneously do some readings for my next class."
The video cuts to a close up shot of Amaima's laptop screen and then the video pans up to show off an office with a plant in the background. White text appears on the bottom left of the screen that says:
"Picking up a package for Student Union Treasury from the Department of Student Engagement in the SCC 2 pm"
The video then cuts to a sunny outside walking path on the Brandeis University campus where the admissions office can be seen in the background as well as students walking the crosswalk and cars driving on the road. White text appears on the bottom left corner of the screen that says: "Walking to Anthropology class"
The video then cuts inside to a classroom lecture where a person holding a microphone is seen addressing a classroom with a large screen behind them. White text appears on the bottom left corner of the screen that says:
"Critical approaches to Global Health 4 pm"
The person holding the microphone can quickly be heard saying:
"The colonizers intellectual. They basically"
The video then cuts to outside where it is now dark out and Amaima is walking on camps while addressing the camera:
"So I just got done with my class. I'm now heading down to Usdan to grab some dinner before my computer science recitation."
The video then cuts to a quick panning shot showcasing the exterior of the Brandeis library.
The video then cuts to a plate of food that has pasta and potatoes on it. White text on the bottom left of the screen appears and says:
"Dinner at Usdan 6 pm"
From the dinner scene we cut to a new shot that shows off Amaima's laptop and then pans up to reveal a classroom with a blackboard and a screen above that showing off computer code. White text appears on screen that says:
"Recitation for COSI-10A Introduction to Python 6:30 pm"
The video then cuts to outdoors again showing off Brandeis University campus at night. White text appears on screen that says:
"Walking to the library"
The next shot is an overhead view of students studying at desks in the Brandeis Farber library.
The video then cuts to a timelapse of Amaima working on her laptop while studying in the library. White text appears on the lower left hand corner of the video that says:
"Library study sessions PM"
The video then cuts to an outside campus shot at night. There is snow on the ground as Amaima walks a concrete pathway. White text on the lower left corner of the video appears that says:
"Heading home to my residence hall 10 pm"
The video then cuts to a laptop screen shining in a dark room. On the screen of the laptop is the "Frozen" movie opening title. White text appears on the bottom left hand corner of the screen that says:
"Watching a movie with friends 11 pm"
The video cuts to Amaima in her residence hall room addressing the camera directly:
"Thanks so much for watching this video and coming along with me for my day. Bye."
The video then cuts to a blue screen with white text that reads: "Brandeis University" the music of the video then fades out.
