The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs has recognized Brandeis University as a “Fulbright Top Producing Institution” for 2024-25. The honor includes applicants to the Fulbright U.S. Student and Fulbright U.S. Scholars programs for 2024-25.

Last year, 10 Brandeis students became Fulbrighters, a banner year for the university. In addition to teaching English abroad, some of the students were selected to pursue research projects on subjects including swarm robots in Japan; race, gender and class in South Korea; and autism spectrum disorder in India.

"I'm so proud that Brandeis has been named a Fulbright Top Producer,” said Meredith Monaghan, executive director of academic fellowships. “This honor is a testament to the vision and hard work of our applicants and to the faculty and staff who support them. These 10 Brandeis alumni exemplify the best of Brandeis as they carry out the Fulbright mission of promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding."

Over the past 10 years, 47 Brandeis students or alumni have received Fulbright U.S. Student grants, and 147 total in the 75-year history of the program. These numbers include a combination of undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni.

The Fulbright Foundation offers opportunities for graduate study, research, and teaching in more than 140 countries outside the U.S. Congress created the Fulbright U.S. Student Program in 1946 to foster understanding between the U.S. and other countries, exchange ideas, and find solutions to shared international concerns.

In addition to the Fulbright, Brandeis students and alumni have received nine Boren Awards, five Critical Language Scholarships, four Goldwater Scholarships, one Truman Scholarship, and one Udall Scholarship over the past three years.
