Brandeis University has named Emily Roper-Doten, a seasoned admissions and financial aid executive, as dean of admissions for its undergraduate programs. Reporting to Vice President of Enrollment Management, Jennifer Walker, Roper-Doten will draw on her extensive experience developing programs to attract high-achieving students to lead admissions strategy at Brandeis.
Roper-Doten comes to Brandeis from Clark University, where she served as vice president for undergraduate admissions and financial assistance. Previously, she was dean of admissions and financial aid at Olin College of Engineering.
In her work at Clark, Roper-Doten elevated recruitment to align with the university’s vision by developing and deploying more authentic messaging and programming, supported by a more intentional organizational approach and strategic use of data. At Olin, she revised recruitment and selection efforts, using data to inform strategy.
“With Emily, we gain a knowledgeable and creative admissions leader who not only understands today’s prospective students, but is adept at implementing strategies and measuring impacts,” Walker said. "I’m confident she will strengthen our efforts to highlight the value of a Brandeis education, attract outstanding students to our university, and prepare them to thrive in a future shaped by AI, innovation, and digital technology."
“My career has been motivated by my own transformative experience as a first-generation college student and fueled by a passion for students' stories,” Roper-Doten said. “I am inspired by Brandeis's history and culture as a center of open, rigorous inquiry, welcoming students and scholars of every background and orientation. I am excited to use my skills and experience to help Brandeis enhance its recruitment of talented students.”
Roper-Doten earned her bachelor’s degree at Colgate University and her master’s degree in higher education administration from Boston College. She is active in many professional organizations and currently serves on the committee on applications for Common Application.
