Meet the Staff

Dennis Hicks
Director of Student Activities

Dennis joined the Department of Student Activities team as the Director in the spring of 2018. He received his undergraduate degree in Art Education from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. Dennis also earned his graduate degree from the same institution in Counseling/Student Affairs and in recent years, earned an undergraduate certificate in graphic design from George Mason University. He was born and raised in metro Detroit and has now lived in all regions of the continental United States with exception to the Pacific Northwest. Dennis has a love for anything creative and freelances as a graphic designer. If you visit his office you’ll always find him listening to music. His favorite musician of all time has always been Prince.

Leigh Hilderbrandt
Marketing and Box Office Manager

Leigh came to Brandeis in 2000 to serve as the Box Office and Subscriptions Manager for the Theater Department and transferred to Student Activities in 2011. She manages Brandeis Tickets and the department's marketing; assists with planning and implementing department programs, including coordinating the Fall and Winter Involvement Fairs; advises Archon Yearbook and Student Service Bureau; and is an inSTEP committee member. Leigh holds a bachelor’s degree in theater and visual arts from Penn State and has entertained a variety of career interests, including theater administration, 911-communications, veterinary assistant, and personal trainer. She spends her free time with her dogs and cats and does DIY projects at her 1720 home.

Robert Steinberg

Student Activities Specialist

Robbie joined the Department of Student Activities in the fall of 2014. After graduating from Brandeis in 2013, he spent a year working in a variety of fields, including outdoor theater production, corporate banking, and audiovisual services for corporate events and weddings. He left Brandeis with degrees in Psychology and Education Studies, and a minor in Theater Arts. While on campus, he served as a Theater Assistant for the Shapiro Campus Center Theater, Coordinator of Student Production Services, and as President of Tympanium Euphorium. Away from work, Robbie enjoys seeing theater productions and going on adventures.

JV Souffrant 

Operations Specialist 

JV joined Brandeis in the fall of 2017 as the Operations Specialist for the Department of Student Activities. After graduating from Brandeis in 2013, he spent some time working in a variety of fields, including immigration law, footwear, and youth development as a Trainer at the Posse Foundation for the Miami site. While at Brandeis, JV received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology. On campus JV served as a member of the Brandeis Campus Center Team, and was both an info booth member and a supervisor. He was also a member of Brandeis Student Government, and served one term as the Senator for Racial Minority Students. For fun, JV enjoys reading, writing, boxing, and listening to various music from around the world.

Katie McNamara

Senior Department Coordinator

Katie joined Brandeis in 2017 as the Senior Department Coordinator of Community Service and Student Activities. Prior to Brandeis, she worked as the Campus Programs Assistant at Dexter Southfield, managing summer camp and after school programs. Katie earned her bachelor's degree from Saint Michael's College, with a major in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. Outside of Brandeis, Katie enjoys skiing in Vermont, traveling, New England sports, and spending time with friends.


Graduate Assistant for Programming

Shannon joined Brandeis in 2017 as the Graduate Assistant for Programming. She is focused on developing the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and assisting with the Student Services Bureau. Shannon graduated from John Carroll University in May 2017 with her B.S. in Human Resource Management and Business Management. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in Higher Education with a focus in Student Affairs from Boston College. In her free time, Shannon enjoys finding new coffee shops, podcasts, and keeping up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.


Prince K. Kwarase
Graduate Assistant for Leadership Development

Prince joined the Student Activities in February 2019 as the Graduate Assistant for Leadership Development. He is focused on developing a leadership plan to work closely with student leaders, club leaders, as well as, help launch the first leadership summit at Brandeis for students. Prince has a BSc. in Business Administration from Ashesi University in Ghana, and currently pursuing M.A in Sustainable International Development at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management. Before the Heller School, he served as a teaching and research assistant at Ashesi University supporting with teaching leadership courses, as well as, spearheading Mentors Network; a youth development initiative he founded in 2013. Prince loves to read, connect with people through conversations and explore in his free time.
