Community Break Fast

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is a Jewish holiday of prayer, reflection and fasting. Communities around the world will come together to mark the conclusion of this sacred day on the Jewish calendar and wish each other well for the New Year. The Community Break the Fast has become a well-loved tradition at Brandeis, reflecting our founding by the Jewish community as an inclusive university that honors our diverse values.  Our entire campus community is invited to celebrate together on the Great Lawn, where the large tent in front of the Shapiro Campus Center will open at 7:30 p.m. Lots of delicious food, all kosher, will be available until 9:30 p.m. Note that those members of our community who will have been fasting for twenty-five hours to mark the holiday will arrive soon after 7:30 p.m. We also ask the community's assistance in offering up seats for these fasting community members.

For additional information about Yom Kippur services, please visit http://www.brandeishillel.org/high-holidays/. For more information about dining services changes and updates during the Yom Kippur holiday, please visit https://brandeis.sodexomyway.com/.
