Student Profile

Calvin Wang '16

Major: Computer Science and Psychology
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY

Involvement on campus: I’m a current advisor and past VP/Publicity Chair/Photographer for the Brandeis Asian American Students Association, a Supervisor for the Campus Center Team, Co-editor of Jaded Magazine, and Director of Publicity and Digital Media for the Brandeis Diversity Conference.

What is your favorite part of your role? Definitely the opportunity to interact with and get to know such a wide range of people; you get a ton of insight into just how much happens on campus every single day. Seeing such a wide variety of people come and go — and being able to touch a part of their daily lives — is always an interesting and enlightening experience.

How has this opportunity impacted your time at Brandeis? Being in leadership positions gives you the unique opportunity to both grow as a person and inspire the same growth in others. My time here has been and will definitely continue to be a series of unique experiences I can hopefully take hold of to galvanize that very same growth in others.

What made you get involved? A hope to bring about some kind of impact. A passion for flair, and a desire for execution done right. The chance to take things into my own hands, and wring out some measure of success.

Campus Center Team

The Campus Center Team functions as the operating staff of the Shapiro Campus Center and parts of the Usdan Student Center. The students are easily recognized by their bright red or orange uniforms and huge smiles. Along with providing customer service and information to thousands of visitors a year, the team also helps to support logistical and technical aspects of events in the Shapiro Campus Center.

What Services are Provided?

At the Info Booth, students can borrow dry erase markers for the conference and study rooms (as available), pick up campus and MBTA maps, pick up and return departmental forms, gain access to locked conference rooms, and gain answers to general questions.  In addition, clubs can borrow equipment reserved through the Department of Student Activities.

When I Can Find the Team?

The Info Booth is staffed from 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 p.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

You can reach us via phone during those hours at 781-736-4770.

What Else Do They Do?

Each supervisor on the team has an additional responsibility in addition to their daily task. Such responsibilities include programming, liaison for clubs and commuters, and the management of the Game Room. Check back for updates of projects they are working on that will impact you, the students!

Who Makes Up the Team?

Supervisor: Responsible for managing the Shapiro Campus Center and Usdan Student Center during the evening hours and weekends.

Info Booth Worker: Serves as the primary point of contact for customers in the Shapiro Campus Center and Usdan Game Room.

Reset Crew: Primarily responsible for making daily walkthroughs in the Shapiro Campus Center, adjusting furniture and other items to a professional, clean and default status. Reset Crew will also help set up rooms for special events.
