Faculty Learning Communities

Spring 2023 Faculty Learning Communities

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) would like to invite you to join a group of recently hired faculty for regular discussions of teaching and learning. In these groups, called Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs), we take on important pedagogical issues by discussing readings and sharing our own experiences.

The spring 2023 FLC program is open to anyone who teaches full-time, whether on a contract or tenured/tenure-track, and who was hired in fall 2020 or later. The program involves two components:

  • 80-minute in-person meetings every two weeks facilitated by one of the CTL staff
  • two peer teaching observations with follow-up discussions.

If you are interested in being a part of the spring 2023 FLC, APPLY HERE.

What are the advantages to joining an FLC?
FLCs can:

  • break the isolation in which most teaching usually happens;
  • provide new ideas about teaching and learning;
  • create a supportive environment in which faculty can investigate, question, explore, and apply new classroom techniques;
  • develop a community among faculty members who are relatively new to Brandeis;
  • discuss scholarship on teaching and learning; and
  • challenge yourself to grow as a teacher and life-long learner.

If you have any questions, please email Irina Dubinina (idubinin@brandeis.edu) or Marty Samuels (msamuels@brandeis.edu).

We hope you will be interested in participating and look forward to hearing from you!
