I am an assistant professor in the Mathematics Department at Brandeis University. My research interests include mathematical biology, data-driven modeling, multiscale numerical methods, and applied probability.

My overall research goal is to use mathematical modeling and detailed computer simulations to study real-world problems, incorporating experimental data when possible. I am particularly interested in biological problems, in which the large datasets generated by technologies including light and electron microscopy have made it possible to effectively use mathematical techniques to study questions that are still poorly understood. For more information, see the description on my research page.

I also enjoy teaching and mentoring. When possible, I use in-class exercises to help students interact with the material, incorporating inquiry-based learning approaches that I was first exposed to as an undergraduate teaching assistant. For more information, please see my teaching page.
