Summer is the perfect time to go on an adventure.

One of the great things about Brandeis University is its close proximity to Boston and all the city has to offer.

There are many fun water-based activities along the Charles River, which is accessible in multiple locations including Boston, Waltham, Cambridge and Newton. If you are interested in canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding, businesses will rent you the equipment or even sell you a season pass.

There are also lots of places to hike in greater Boston:

  • The Blue Hills Reservation in Milton
  • The Middlesex Fells Reservation in Stoneham
  • World’s End in Hingham
  • Breakheart Reservation in Saugus (where you can also go mountain biking)
  • Mount Misery and other trails in Lincoln
  • Wachusett Mountain State Reservation in Princeton
  • Hopkinton State Park in Hopkinton
  • Battle Road Trail in Lexington

If you’re more of a city person, be sure to visit Boston Common, which is especially beautiful in the summer. This is also a great time to walk the Freedom Trail, a pedestrian path that takes you by various historical landmarks in Boston.

For art lovers, visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, which has beautiful gardens, and the Museum of Fine Arts, a world-class museum with more than 500,000 works of art.

These are all great ways to spend your free time in the warm weather!
