Here are the funding and professional development opportunities we are able to offer to GSAS students this summer. Please direct questions about eligibility and deadlines to the appropriate person as listed below.

Please note that these awards are highly competitive and that we cannot fund every deserving application. As always, we encourage you to apply to multiple sources of funding (internal and external). Please connect with the GSAS Professional Development team to explore additional options.

Please note the following: GSAS students in the Divisions of Creative Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences who apply for and receive summer funding from the university either through GSAS, the Mandel Center for the Humanities, one of the Centers or another internal source can receive a maximum $6000 per summer in an effort to share (limited) institutional resources across more students. If a student in the Division of Science receives funding from one of the sources below, GSAS will consult with the appropriate DivSci Grad Affairs contacts about the summer funding sources.

GSAS/Mandel Dissertation Summer Writing Awards

Summer 2024 Social Justice Internship Funding

Deadline: May 1, 2024
Eligibility: All GSAS PhD students

Are you looking for funding for your non-profit/social justice professional development experience this summer? Whether through education, direct-service, research, tech support, marketing, or financial analytics, there are many ways to champion social justice at an organization.

This fund will award $3000-$6,000 stipends (disbursed in summer 2024) to support GSAS students who are interning for an organization that pursues social justice goals. The amount of the award will be calibrated to the length of the experience and the expected hours of work. Both shorter (3-6 weeks) and longer (6+ weeks) internships are eligible for the award.

These awards are generously provided by the Louis D. Brandeis Legacy Fund for Social Justice, which supports a wide range of activities that reflect the University's commitment to social justice.

Questions can be directed to Assistant Dean Alyssa Canelli.
